Flowcarbon's Consensus 2022 Recap

June 14, 2022

This year’s Consensus 2022 in Austin, Texas was hot with innovation and climate (literally)! The conference brought together over 17,000 people from around the world to discuss all things Web 3.0 and the innovative ways companies are utilizing blockchain technology. Flowcarbon was honored to be one of the event sponsors, and we enjoyed meeting interesting folks from across the crypto, investment and ESG landscapes at our conference booth and at various events throughout the weekend.

For our team, one of the most exciting parts of the conference was meeting so many friends, supporters and interested new people at our two-part Crypto x Carbon workshop on Friday afternoon. At the workshop we heard about the mission and product from Caroline Klatt and Phil Fogel, and we engaged in an interesting panel discussion with Antonio Keys, Director of Venture Investments at Samsung Next, and Marek Olszewski, Co-founder and CTO at Celo.

We touched on several topics, from how various stakeholders see the role of carbon offsets, to how investors and corporates can engage with Flowcarbon. The panel brought perspectives from the investor community, the blockchain dev community, and blockchain applications underscoring the role that every sector has to play collaboratively in addressing climate change.

After some serious conversation, we also had quite a bit of fun! We were thrilled to co-host the MetaGala, the conference’s highlight event on Saturday night, along with Coindesk, CoinEx, First Digital and more. All proceeds from the ticket sales and the MetaGala NFT auction went to partner charities including Crypto Tutors Foundation, Code to Inspire, Girls Who Code, and Crypto Kids Camp.

We enjoyed breakfast surrounded by nature at our refi brunch on Saturday. Even at a huge conference, it’s wonderful to connect with our close friends and partners at dClimate, Open Forest Protocol, Watr, ReSource and Near Protocol. Special shout out to our co-hosts Celo and hostess extraordinaire, Founder of Awesome People Ventures, Julia Liption.

Overall, this was an inspiring weekend where we were able to meet amazing leaders in the Web 3.0 universe and continue to educate others on our mission to decarbonize the world through offsetting solutions. Looking forward to going back to Consensus in the years to come!
